Program

This month Alcy Frelick will present Afghan Textiles from the 1970’s.

Many of us know Alcy as a friend, past president, and invaluable
supporter of our auction.  However, long ago and far away, Alcy was a Peace Corps Volunteer posted at the Engineering Faculty of Kabul University from 1976-1978. (Prior to the Russian invasion, Al- Q'aeda, the Taliban, and the U.S. military involvement in Afghanistan.)  During her time in Afghanistan, she traveled over much of the country and collected handwork including embroideries, weavings, clothing, carpets, and even a quilt.  She will be showing her collection which showcases the work  women were able to accomplish with simple tools -- before TV or national radio stations were available.

We will also enjoy refreshments and Show & Tell!
