HaymarketThe Haymarket Chapter of QU is located the furthest west of all the QU Chapters and has members from many surrounding towns and counties (as well as other states). We have a wide variety of activities – some on Zoom and some in person. These include:
We have quilters of all skill levels and types – traditional, modern, applique, hand and machine quilting – everything! We welcome all who are interested in quilting. All activities may vary - check calendar for specific dates/times. Activities take place September - June. Mix of Zoom and In-Person. 1st Thursday: 7:00 p.m. - Program with Speaker (Zoom) Monthly: Workshops - Dates and time vary (Zoom) 3rd Thursday: 1:00 p.m. Early Bird Demos (Zoom/Recorded for HQU Members) 3rd Thursday: 7:00 p.m. Monthly Meeting with Sew & Tell (Alvey Elementary School) 4th Friday: 10 a.m. -2 p.m. Sit & Sew, Warrenton Presbyterian Church, Warrenton, VA Although we have standard meeting times and places, please check the individual calendar of events for the most current information. Haymarket Quilters Unlimited awarded Presidential Gold Volunteer Service AwardHQU has, for the second year in a row, earned the Presidential Gold Volunteer Service Award Medal for our members service to the Warrior Retreat at Bull Run in Haymarket, Virginia. HQU logged more than 4,000 hours of service to the Warrior Retreat making Quilts of Honor, pillowcases, placemats and quilts. During the volunteer luncheon, HQU received a letter from President Biden, the Presidential Certificate and a Presidential Challenge coin. This award belongs to all of the Warrior Retreat Volunteers! At a drawing at the Third Friday Sit and Sew, Jackie Clattenburg won the medal! HQU members Denise Minor, Linda Bowlin, Laura Willard, Jackie Clattenburg and Zoe Ann Brown representing the many HQU dedicated volunteers. |
