Haymarket

The Haymarket Chapter of QU is located the furthest west of all the QU Chapters and has members from many surrounding towns and counties (as well as other states). We have a wide variety of activities – some on Zoom and some in person. These include:

  • Programs/Speakers (check out our 2023-2024 Programs & Workshops!)
  • Workshops
  • Business Meeting & “Sew & Tell” (members sharing finished projects)
  • Early Bird Demos (short lessons and small projects taught by members)
  • Community Service activities
  • Private Members Only Facebook Group
  • Other in-person activities – as appropriate (retreats, social activities, etc.)

We have quilters of all skill levels and types – traditional, modern, applique, hand and machine quilting – everything! We welcome all who are interested in quilting.

All activities may vary - check calendar for specific dates/times.  Activities take place September - June.  Mix of Zoom and In-Person.

1st Thursday: 7:00 p.m. - Program with Speaker (Zoom)

Monthly: Workshops - Dates and time vary (Zoom)

3rd Thursday: 1:00 p.m. Early Bird Demos (Zoom/Recorded for HQU Members)

3rd Thursday:  7:00 p.m.  Monthly Meeting with Sew & Tell (Alvey Elementary School)

3rd Friday: 10 a.m. -2 p.m., "Third Friday" Sit & Sew, Warrenton Presbyterian Church, Warrenton, VA

Haymarket Quilters Unlimited awarded Presidential Gold Volunteer Service Award

Haymarket Quilters Unlimited was awarded the Presidential Gold Volunteer Service Award for our service to the Warrior Retreat at Bull Run in Haymarket Virginia. HQU has been working with The Warrior Retreat since 2019  donating pillowcases, placemats, quilts and Quilts of Honor. In 2022-2023 HQU donated 296 pillowcases, 94 placemats, 15 quilts and 15 Quilts of Honor. During a volunteer luncheon, HQU received a letter from President Biden, a Presidential Certificate and a Presidential Challenge coin.

    The workshop is limited to HQU members. An email will be sent to HQU members with signup instructions, including a code to be used when signing up. This workshop has 2 parts - the first on Friday, May 3 and the second on Saturday, May 4. Both sessions are from 10:00 AM - 1:00 PM. The workshop is limited to 20 participants. The Zoom link will be sent to workshop participants a day or two prior to the workshop.

The Zoom link will be sent to workshop participants a day or two prior to the workshop.  This workshop will be recorded and the recording will be available to members who signup for the workshop for a few months after the workshop.

    FQU will be hosting Barbara Cline for an in-person workshop at the Burke Presbyterian Church.  She will be teaching her Diamond Chain Star pattern. This quilt measures 41 x 41. 

    Registration fee is $45 and limited to 20 participants. 

    Each participant is required to have a Diamond Chain Star pattern. Patterns can be purchased on Barbara’s website.
