2013 Quilters Unlimited Raffle

Presented by Mount Vernon QU. All proceeds from ticket sales support the QU mission to educate in the art of quilting. QU makes annual donations to organizations such as American Quilt Study Group, Armed Services YMCA, DAR, Fairfax County Public Library, and Virginia Quilt Museum. Individual Chapters also donate to several local community organizations.
The winning ticket was drawn on Sunday, June 2, 2013, at the Quilters Unlimited 40th Annual Quilt Show. The winner did not need to be present to win. Check out the photo of our happy winner.

Background: 204 Bull’s eye blocks in batiks were made by the Mount Vernon Chapter of Quilters Unlimited.
Congratulations to Jackie Lose who won Celtic Celebration during the drawing on Sunday, June 2, 2013, at the Quilters Unlimited 40th Anniversary Quilt Show. Jackie joined the Mt. Vernon Chapter for lunch and the chapter’s final meeting of the year where she was presented the quilt and had the opportunity to meet all of the wonderful quilters who created it.
Center Medallion and Border: The Celtic designs of the center and border were created by Pat Alfredson.
45 yards of bias tape were used in the center medallion and border. The bias tape took approximately 8 hours to create.
Details of Pebble and Meander Quilting. Lynne Fishburn designed and quilted the top. This took approximately 120 hours.
The appliquéd border was hand stitched by members of the Mount Vernon Chapter and took approximately 55 hours. The binding was created and applied by Patricia Bolton and the sleeve was constructed by Libby Dudley.
Close Up Tear Drop and Wrap Design. Construction: The blocks were laid out by Mount Vernon chapter members. The top was assembled by Mary Downey. The carrying bag was created by Mary Mazzuchi and the label was made by Rosemary Coller.
