Mastering Electric Quilt Basics to Unleash Your Creativity
Where: Room 5 at Burke United Methodist Church, 6200 Burke Centre Parkway, Burke, VA 22015
Description: Start from scratch to learn how to design in Electric Quilt. The focus will be on building basic skills and reinforcing them to the point where the students can create their own simple quilts. Class exercises will focus on disappearing blocks (described in the companion lecture) and the wide range of quilts that can be created from them.
Duration: 6 hours, 9 am – 4 pm (1 hour for students to get lunch)
Requirements: It is preferable for class participants to bring their own laptop’s with EQ loaded and registered (please do this before the class so that we can get started immediately). However, if a participant does not own EQ, the instructor will bring copies provided by the Electric Quilt Company to temporarily install on the computers, but the software will need to be uninstalled by the end of class. These individuals should arrive at 8:30 am to allow for sufficient time to install the software on their laptops. This class will focus on EQ7 / EQ Stitch, but you can bring an older version of EQ and follow along with almost all of the instructions.
Included: Handouts from instructor; Links to website with EQ projects from class; References for additional information
Goal: By the end of the class, each student should be able to start a new project, design custom blocks, create custom quilts, and modify the quilts by changing layout, borders, sashing, block orientation and coloring.
The class is limited to 12 students to allow for sufficient space.
