SQU's Sit & Sew meetings are open to SQU members, but we welcome anyone to drop by and check us out! Bring your sewing machine, quilts to pin baste on our raised tables, handwork projects or just come and chat! Need help with a project? There is always someone at Sit and Sew to lend a hand!

SQU - Program/workshop - Laura Heine Collage Technique (April 28, 2026)

This is a program developed by Laura Heine which turns fabric into art. You will combine your favorite fabrics and fusible interfacing to make a fabulous collage. When you are happy with your design, you will iron them all into place and sew it in place.

Cost of the program is $40 for the lecture.

There will be an additional charge of $16.50 for the pattern due to the instructor on the day of class.

Day one will be the lecture and day two will be the workshop.

Day one will be from 10 am to noon and is open to all SQU members

Day two will be from 10 am until 3 pm to work on your project

SQU - Retro Bloom Curves Workshop - Erin Grogan (May 12, 2026)

During this 4-hour class we will cover 3 different methods for sewing curves so that each student can discover the method that works best for them. We will also be sewing a block that has a curve within the curve, Drunkard’s path, and Orange Peels!

This is a great intermediate curves class for quilters who want to gain confidence is sewing multiple style of curves blocks.

By the end of this class most students complete the wall hanging size of the pattern. Students will have the skills and confidence to make the throw size quilt if they choose.

This class uses my Retro Curved Pieced Quilts book. Each student will be required to purchase the book for the class. Student’s will need to precut their fabric before the class to make the most of our time together.
